Meet our Team: Michael J. Mattick A native of North Carolina, Mike was born in 1953. Literally, he grew up in the tax preparation business founded by his mother Mellinee Jackson in 1949. He became President and CEO of Mel Jackson Tax Service in 1987. Currently he holds the title of Chairman of the board. In addition, he provides consulting services in the areas of investment strategies utilizing his global economic experiences. He was invited to assist Saudi Arabia in the area of economic development for the city of Madinat Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah. He aided in bringing U.S. companies to Saudi Arabia in the areas of oil and related industries. Mike worked with Solidarity (Lech Walesa of Poland) on restructuring the Polish economy after the collapse of the USSR. He assisted in generating hard currency to fund the Solidarity movement. Consulted with the fishing industry in the former Soviet Union and worked with them to develop their oil industry. Worked with Carlos Garcia Garcia, Second Vice-President of Peru to renegotiate the fishing treaty between Peru and Russia. Worked closely with Pedro San Juan (UN Undersecretary for Political Affairs). Received Peru's Medal of Merit. Brought U.S. companies to West Africa (Cote d'Ivoire) to bring medical supplies and services to Africa. Finally, he helped establish the mechanism to feed and educate the poor in Nicaragua and the United States. Craig Field A professional Chartered Accountant with over 15 years experience in the audit and accounting industry. After training with PWC in the 80's and early 90's, and spending time in commerce, Craig bought into his own accounting and audit practice providing accounting, audit and tax services to a range of clients from small businesses to the likes of Cisco's monthly accounting services. Craig has a Bachelors degree majoring in Accounting, Auditing and Tax, and is a Chartered Accountant (equivalent to a CPA) and International Associate member of the AICPA. He has passed his Series 65 certification in order to register as a Registered Investment Advisor.
Robert U. Harris Secretary Treasurer of Mel Jackson Tax Services. Bob has worked here for sixteen years. Prior to that he was the Accounting Manager for the Ivey chain. He was an auditor for a CPA firm for eight years early in his postgraduate career. Bob is a graduate of the University of North Carolina. Jerry R. Barrantine Jerry is an enrolled agent, and provides tax planning services for individuals, corporations and other organizations. Mr. Barrentine served as CFO at Freddie Mac. He has formed a consulting firm whose specialty is mortgage banking. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from American University in Washington, DC. At Mel Jackson, Jerry provides tax preparation services, financial and strategic business planning. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences specializing in mortgage banking. George J. Lahey George is a licensed real estate broker and worked for many years as the controller of a major U.S. Corporation. After service in the U.S. Navy, George received his MBA from Monmouth College (NJ). He is familiar with all accounting operations and internal control procedures. In addition to tax preparation, George will become involved in the Mel Jackson accounting-bookkeeping operations. Nancy S. Ledins Nancy is in her tenth year as a tax preparation specialist. She holds four doctoral degrees as well as numerous national and international awards. She has been a teacher, director of a State substance abuse program and, for a number of years was in private counseling practice. She has authored three books, and has been called upon as both a national and internationl speaker. |
